As you know, these two kinds of formats, RM and RMVB, are less than superior in technology side. But as a result of their ubiquitous usage on the internet, these two formats have stayed as, with several other formats, indispensable types in the market. MP4 products at present are alleged to support many kinds of formats through self-enabled decoding ability, but not RM/RMVB, thus largely decreased practicability. In this age of internet ubiquity, RM/RMVB as container of videos have dominated most PCs. To play RM/RMVB videos requires decoding of files by some kind of soft, and adds to the demands for higher quality of chips in a portable video player. For PC, it must has a PIII level of CPU ,in order to support automatic decoding and playing ,while some video players, after some optimizations till now, have been able to support as high quality as QVGA for RMVB decoding.

Then how many MP4 players in the market now support RM/RMVB ? Far from being many. Even my favorite Archos can’t do it. Though the price of flashing MP4 has been going along a downwards trajectory, convenience side of a player should be accounted as the focus appeal to consumers. Anyway, MP4, ever since its rollout, has been deemed as a multimedia product able to afford entertainment anytime , anywhere. As AVI is well on the way to ascend to being a classic format, it is common sense to expect MP4 to support more formats ,of course AVI included.

But if for now, your cute Archos, as mine ,has yet to meet this expectation, there is no due fuss about it. As a saying goes that there is always a plug to a hole. And in this case, there is always a converter to make your unrecognized formats, as RM/RMVB, be accepted by your player. Well, you can figure it out as a business survival chain, that’s to say , to meet the need of one link is the means by another link to earn a living. I mean , in this scenario, that it is just the imperfection of MP4, or any other player, that bring about an opportunity for soft developers to make their contributions. And there indeed are many innovative guys out there to do this kind of work, and their products indeed, at least for now, have made our players more format-friendly. To check the converters for MP4s, you can go to this website http://www.mp4converter.net/ for more information.
