cant play file-tried everything

I downloaded an XviD file from imesh, but no matter what i try it wont open. my divx player says error-make sure it is an avi or mpeg 4 file. i downloaded all the latest drivers and some xvid dirver too but still nothing-anyone have any suggestions? I am not very good at this so anything would be much appreciated smiley !

Hiya canuck. I just edited the post. The information that you’ve given should be enough to give appropriate assistance. Try to avoid giving entire file names, as this can be misconstrued sometimes, and seen as possibly being illegal etc, in some instances.

File name is not necessary in most instances. People can assist appropriately, by reading the other information. Now:

Try downloading this program. 'TFO’s Codec Finder':
http://tfo.fasttrackcentral.org/

Then load your XviD file into it, and see what it says about it. Post/copy&paste the results here.
