Movies on noteboook with second monitor

I have home notebook and new LCD monitor. I tried to connect LCd monitor to noteboook and watch some movies. Everything was OK, both monitors was showing the same, nut when I run movie the second monitor was showing only black window with subtitles. Can somebody tell me how to make it work?
