eventhough Guest | I’m trying to use VLC to play a .mkv file and the movie comes with both English and Japanese audio tracks. The problem is VLC isn’t playing any of the tracks. It plays back all the music and sound effects but no audio! Can anyone help?
Thanks

rankybanton Guest | I’m having the same problem.
I’ve found that by control-clicking the mkv file in the playlist in VLC and selecting 'properties', it shows that the culprit seems to be the main audio track being in the format of an ' .mp4a ' - something I have never heard of - and something that’s hard to dig up dirt on. I have yet to find a video player that supports this format.
Good luck.

Cmosrunner Guest | If you want to play mkv some way, I’ve found that using Lazy Man’s MKV codec + Morgan Stream Switcher + Windows Media Player 9 lets me play mkv audio and even by right-clicking on the screen, I can choose between the audio tracks so it doesn’t play both audio streams at once. You may also want VobSub to be able to manage the subs

Mattress Guest | Cmosrunner, thanks. I downloaded the Morgan Stream Switcher and now I no longer have both audio tracks playing at the same time.
