I’ve tried converting some .avi files to .wmv with Windows Media Encoder, I have all the right codecs, I’ve checked them numerous times with Gspot. The .avi files are encoded with DivX codecs (XviD for video, 0x0055(MP3) ID’d as MPEG-2 Layer 3 for audio). The first time I tried it worked, then I started getting error messages the second time like video codec not installed on system (0xC00D0BC4) and audio codec not installed on system (0xC00D0BC2). This doesn’t make sense, since when I tried converting the one that worked the first time again, it resulted with this error.
I also tried reinstalling Windows Media Encoder, to no avail.

Please Help. Or refer me to an encoder/converter that works.

Thank you.

Go to this site and search VSO and download only the addon for VSO Convertx to dvd and go to VSO home page and download the latest version 2.0.12c and after installation copy the patch in VSO folder and apply it. www.softarchive.net Play the file before converting and only if is ok sound and picture start the convertion.Set the VSO for your TV video system and if you have any subs keep them in the same place with avi and VSO is going to upload them automatic. To play the avi before convertion use any of this players VLC,BSplayer and Media Classic. All use their own codecs. Here is a link or just Google for them: http://www.free-codecs.com/

There is a password guarding the add-on extraction from softarchive.net

Do you know what it is?

Anytime.I use VSO since was DivX to DVD and check from time to time for updates. The site I gave you is very fast in posting the new version and patches.Besides is one of the fastest converting time, on my computer is lees than an hour.If you install VSO Copy to DVD works very well.
