mista Guest | I am having problems playing an aXXo file, none of the media players I have seem to have or be able to download the right codec for playing this file. Has anyone else had problems with this or got any suggestions of how I can play the audio for this file.
I have tried WMP, WMP2, real player, div x and quicktime with no luck...

nephew.tim Guest | This audio codec appears to use Mpeg4 layers. A suitable decompressor would be a thin-line application such as VLC (Vidoe Lan Client). I know it is availbale for Macintosh and most Linux distributions, however I am not sure of it’s availability for Microsoft Operation Systems. The fun part of this type of codec is finding software able to convert these files back to layer 1,2 and 3.

MitchWilson Guest | aXXo isn’t a file type necessarily.
aXXo is the nickname of a guy who encodes and uploads movies mostly to torrents.
Most every video I have downloaded from him (over 20) have been DIVX. Some use AC3 for audio.
If you can’t find a codec that will work, I would try VLC. I haven’t found a video that it couldn’t play. And it does a pretty darn good job of it too.
Here is a link for you.

Worlds Most Prolific Collector Guest | Okay. Here’s the spin, if none of you have yet worked it out. I have collected over 13,000 music CD albums, 800 games, countless software programs, and 3,400 movies from the web over the past seven years (and stored them all on DVD) so I’ve pretty much come across every scam and glitch known to downloaders.
Oh, and incidentally I also BUY one CD album a week and roughly 12-15 DVD movies a year. But I only purchase the “keepers”, albums that rock my world and movies that make a deep impression on me, and these take pride of place in my collection.
The file you describe is clearly a bogus AXXO file, and not a genuine one. Genuine AXXO files are DivX files and have no issues playing in most commonly used media clients, given the right codecs.
The file you describe is another proprietary file disguised as an .AVI file. Unlike the dogs bollocks (who appears to have about as much intelligence as a twinkie), I understand that you are referring to an AXXO file as one created by AXXO and not necessarily one that bears that file extension.
The 3wPlayer you refer to is a particularly dirty software “bomb” that, suffice to say, will unleash a number of nasties onto your computer that will cause a major headache if you haven’t got some really good system protection on board.
Unfortunately the world is full of arse-wipes like the person who developed the 3wplayer (he probably goes to church on Sundays) and the subsequent morons who package up some old movie as a new release and disable it until you download their virus-infested program. These people are of the same vein as those heartless scum who fly planes into buildings killing thousands of innocent people without an ounce of empathy or compassion, except that these wannabes can’t ever hope to make it on the same scale so they quietly (and anonymously) attack unknown computer users like you and I.
Bring one of these low-lifes out into the spotlight and you will find that they are a snivelling little man with a small penis and a lack of social skills whom only their own mothers could love. These are the real losers of this world, my friend, taking their vengeance out on those of us with a life.
It may be reassuring to you to know that even I get caught out by fake movies from time to time, thinking them to be genuine (two this week already!). I simply delete them. Things to look out for in a genuine axxo release are the spelling of the torrent name (separated by dots, not spaces or underscores, and a dash before the lower-case axxo), the two accompanying files (an nfo.txt file and an IMPORTANT! Read carefully... txt file), and most of all, if it’s only just come out at the box office it’s FAR more likely to be a fake. In fact, 99% of all fake torrents are hot, new release items. These identification aspects don’t always apply unfortunately, but they do help you to discern the real thing from the thinly-disguised garbage out there.
Last thing to remember is that AXXO has made a name for himself as the world’s greatest movie pirater bar none. And in doing so, he has left himself open to the inevitable instances of people using his good name as a front for questionable activities. If you end up downloading the latest release only to find it’s another copy of Groundhog Day or if it won’t play on Media Player, DivX player, or whatever you normally use, then don’t blame the man himself. He does a fine job, and will continue to do so despite all the sharks in the pool.

Worlds Most Prolific Collector Guest | Yes Stevie, there are some very good movie players out there, BUT... the movies that are packaged and uploaded only to play on 3wplayer are usually fakes anyway — some 5 to 10 year old movie that has been renamed. The movies in question change depending on what’s hot right now, but the current favourites are Ocean’s 13 and Shrek 3rd, next year who knows? Lovely Bones and Indiana Jones 4 probably...
