how to convert avi/mpeg to iso and burn them as a DVD?

I read in the forums that i should convert them in to ISO and then burn them, and that will work and it will give me more than 2 episodes on one DVD. Can someone tell me how to do that? I even downloaded magiciso, but i dont know how to use it. Thanks!
