Hello everyone!

I tried downloading the software metioned on the first page, but I realized that my files are either .TOD or .MOI, and not .MOD. Am I supposed to somehow convert? Please help, I just went on vacation and I’m really looking forward to watching all the videos I just took.

I was trying to figure out the same thing just now! What I did was copied the SD_VIDEO folder to my Mac, opened up each .MOD file in Capty MPEG Edit Ex, and then went to File, Create File, and saved it as a DV file.

When you go to iMovie, you can Import the DV file, and it will have the audio and video still on it. You won’t be able to edit the audio separately, but at least you can get it into iMovie to edit and create iMovie files and add transitions and effects.

Hope that helps anyone trying to figure this out!

We have one of the new Intel iMacs, with a JVC Everio 20GB HDD camcorder (1st edition???). We were very confused about all of this too, and wish we had known more about it when we bought the camcorder.

Good luck!

Have used DropDv to convert my files to MPEG and can now open in IMovie but I can only open either Picture OR sound - the two don’t come together. I followed the workflow solution exactly - what am I doing wrong

looks like JVC everio cam. is not the best choice I bought one today.....Everio G series GZ-MG255 Salesman says its compatible w/Mac..But I see nothing about a fire wire, it has a dock that may be able to hook up a fire wire too but aparently doesnt come with one. He did say I would have to purchase a 49.00 program. But I want something easy to import, and work with that does not have to go through several stages of conversion...I did not mention I returned another JVC Camcorder today that I worked and worked with to try to import (different model) So before I open this one .... and attempt to see if the salesman knows what he was talking about.....Does anyone have any advice

I want to use the Everio for direct recording in QT. QT does recognice the camera but oes not display a pcture. Therfor no recording in possible.
I connet via iLink with a Firewire 400.

do you have any idea how to get this working?

I purchased the dropdv because the trial version worked great. Only problem is the register menu doesn’t work and I haven’t received a response from the support team. Cal, what did you do to get it to work and did they every respond to you?

Thanks to all on this thread, especially Mr Staples. I can finally use my girlfriend’s Everio in imovie with DV Drop.
One question - is there any way of making the movie clips appear in the order they were filmed? I’ve dragged and dropped hours of footage, but the resulting imovie projects feature scenes in an apparently random order!

Many thanks for any help.

I have just bought a jvc everio and thought I was going mad! but after reading all these messages I now think I bought a right lemon!

I cant even get my titanium laptop to recognise it as an external device.

Does the MPEG Streamclip solve this or am I being thick?

I’m not new to macs but I am new to camcorders and video editing, I just want to download my movie clips and edit them in imovie, is there an idiot guide for jvc everio’s somewhere?

any help would be gratefully received.

Did you figure out how to use the JVC Everio with the Apple? I work for JVC and would be glad to get you the help you need. THere is really not much to it. It should import thru the Firewire that is on the dock of the GZMG155, 255, or 555

Please let me know at jmarshall@jvc.com

Thank you everyone for all of this information. It has really saved me from throwing my jvc camcorder out the window. I called the Everio helpline and was instructed to by the Capty - MPEG edit EX program. Sure I got it but the “help” wasn’t that great. This forum was! I have found that saving my MOD files to Quicktime appear to have a better quality than DV. MPEG-4 format is completely unacceptable. Thanks again.

I just bought an Everio and have been reading the forum with interest. In the manual it says for MACs buy pixela software. Has anyone done this?

MPEGstreamclip can 'Batch' a heap of clips at once.

Go to 'List' menu.
choose 'Batch List’then 'Add files'

then you just go choose all the mod files you want to convert and it’ll work it’s way through them – even showing you progress through the list.

Best way i’ve seen to convert files for iMovie. Better than the software that comes with the camera by far.

I have a Macbook. I love fiming movies and editing them on my computer. I want to buy a JVC 30 GB Hardrive Camcorder Everio MG130. I have a sony now and have to watch the quality of the clips get worse and worse after running it through MPEG Streamclip so I can get sound. Do I need the JVC software it comes with? Do I need to buy some audio coverter? I want my video quality to stay good. Please answer me! Pleeese

YOU DONT NEED ANY OF THAT! load a file into capty that came with your everio. then create file saving it as a quicktime file. thats it. imovie imports it at full quality with sound. And it doesnt cost anything cause capty comes with your camera. -Jeff-
