Help installing XviD

Hi. I hope someone can help me out.
I’m having trouble installing XviD on Windows 2000 (SP4).
I’ve downloaded a binary installer named XviD-1.0-RC4-05042004.exe. When I run it there’s a brief flash of a DOS box then nothing. No codec gets installed.
What am I doing wrong?
