Copying downloaded video files onto DVD/CD

I have downloaded some video files and want to burn them onto DVD/CD so that they will play on my DVD player. I have no idea how to go about doing it, can anyone help?!! Is there any way I can do it so I don’t have to pay for software? Please help!

I think if you want a good quality DVD,pay for the software is worth.
