Yeah, I know rar is a zip file, but the thing is not zipped.

shodokan Guest | I have the same problem.
After looking through some message boards I found a post directing someone to a program called VideoLan.
I downloaded the program but still wasnt able to see the video. Perhaps someone else could give it a shot and see if they have more luck.

EARSPLITTER Guest | Hi People,
Got the same prob. myself as decribed hereinabove. I tried every possible hint with no avail at all. I strat thinking this TC TS. rar.torrent. esoteric...what the heck stuff is no mkore than a discouragement from big companies against using pirated movies and videos usually available from peer to peer groups...
If someone would be able to prove us the contrary we all would be thankful..
Have a nice day

hello Guest | how large is the file you want to open ? what is the end extension- do you have a complete set of RAR’s? where did this source file come from?- a whole bunch of rars then compiled into this one file? and it doesn’t recognize as a playable media file? as much info you can put in here the better of a solution can be found-try step-by-step approach of what you did so we can find were in the errors lie.-or if any are found at all. could always be corrupt file.

EARSPLITTER Guest | Hello “Hello”..;-)
Thanks for helping us...
So the problem is as was formerly described.
1. The name of tghe file was:
starsky & hutch ts-esoteric ts-tcf
The file itself and pretty much the same I have downloaded from other sources like the reactor or some others.
2. The file opens with any media player from Winamp through DivX Player, starts normally with a black screen and a DivX Movie logo right down than
it contunues playing without any visible picture nor sound.
3. I have analized the file with Video ToolBox resulting in the following:
Video Compressor DivX 5.x
FPS 25
Video sampling rate 24 bits
Sound: Not available
4. I’ve got RAR but de-rarring had no avail.
This is all I can say by now, just one more thing:
I have donloaded (probably) the same file from different sources resulting always to the same.
Thanks for giving me (us) more hints.
Best regards

fujisawa Guest | The file I have is named “eternal sunshine of the spotless mind cd1 ts-tcf.avi”
Gspot says
Codec 4CC = DX50/divx
No sound
Stream type OpenDML AVI
Bit rate 14 kb/s
“The file opens with any media player from Winamp through DivX Player, starts normally with a black screen and a DivX Movie logo right down than
it contunues playing without any visible picture nor sound."
I have also downloaded the file a number of times to no avail.

EARSPLITTER Guest | Hi there,
I’ve got an idea in the meantime.
As we’re talking about Kazaa or some other file exchanging softs, it is probable that the file we all tred to download is not a fineshed movie but a kind of working copy. Thios copy is most preobably in a shared folder of the specific Kaazza client and as such can be requested and downléoaded automatically.
This I have deducted from the fact there were no sound attached to any of the files we all have downloaded. As the method these TS-TCF files are compiled is that often sound is recorded separately on a digital device and later muxed with the video (no sound) to get the final movie.
I do not see any other plausible explanation, as the file startst to play back as noirmal and the DivX logo is shown in the first few frames.
Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Tks
Have a nice day.

marky Guest | the file you are all looking at is simply blank.
the ts and other information is the pirate web site name. These files are a blag as kazza used to make users share more to increase the kazaa rating from 1 (rookie) to 1000 (god) like a que system. Hence the files are a blag to raise the users download rating. Trust me i have been int he game a long time.

mitchbayer Guest | I downloaded the shrek 2 avi file parts 1 and 2 and when trying to play it in any other player other than my warez p2p movie player, it just showed a black screen. It first showed the divx logo in the bottom righthand corner then just blackness. When I played it though the Warez P2P Movie Player, it worked fine. I wonder why that is? Hmmm...but I can guarentee you that the file WAS finished and so was the sound. Those of you who have just given up and said that the file probably does not work, DO NOT GIVE UP! There is ALWAYS another solution. Watched a great movie tonight I thought I would never be able to see!!

lmxru Guest | IntoTheRave, can you explain more in detail? I downloaded the Gspot program, it told me that i am able to play the file using wmp, so it was basically saying that wmp can play the blank file with the divx logo at the right bottom. The file is similar to the one you got to work, the spiderman boozers cam(2nd spiderman movie). so maybe if you could help me out that would be great, my AIM s/n is lmxru
or you can just respond to this messege on this forum. thanks

Shems Guest | It’s all about the codecs. Some avi files I have play in divx/winamp/msmediaplayer/windvd or a combination of any. It’s weird ... but I figure the decoding gets done with professional software, mostly to make it smaller. It won’t take long for these codecs to be installed automatically when you install a player. But ... the’re out there.
The way I understand a *.cue and a *.bin file together make a *.iso file. All you have to do, in nero, is add the *.cue file to a project. Winoncd can handle iso files better....
The archives certainly aren’t “empty” ?! Not saying the’re aren’t any fakes. De-rarring can be confusing from time to time.

Shems Guest | I’ve noticed that the method used in those -large- archive-files, “archive-in-archive”-idea, is .... quite briljant, actually ?!!
When u unpack all the archives, anclosed as well; suddenly there appear 2 files; *.bin & *.cue !!!
These are the most versitile files ... consedering the variety of burning formats. The whole process of archiving is not done as much as out of lack/abundance of space -not really worth the effort- but rather out of the idea of data protection/security/corruption.
From what I have seen up till now, if you’re gonna take the time and effort to download such huge files, it comes best in SVCD format, all archived and well. Then, burn 'm and U can even play those cd-rom’s on standard dvd-players for tv !!??!! ...... Before dvd, svcd was the main standard .... It takes 2 or 3 cd-r’s a movie. The quality versus the size togheter with the possibilities, makes svcd the best choice. All my opinion, mind you. Tought I’d let y’all know. I’m wondering how others experience this !???!
Regards, Shems

Raha Guest | Hi
I found this board purely by chance, and am hoping someone here can help me. The file that I have is titled as follows:
wimbledon cd2 screener.svcd-tcf.rar cam.avi
I also have:
wimbledon cd2 kickass movie xvid.avi
(because I tried many different formats before searching for help - heh! ) and as with everyone else, it plays in all players, but is just a black screen with no sound. What I need to know is how do I unpack this archive-within archive? I have AVI Splitter, which GSpot said that I needed, but I have no idea where the individual files begin and end.
Can anyone please help? Many thanks.

umm Guest | Here’s how you can tell if you just wasted alot of bandwidth by downloading a bogus movie file. Download a hex editor. Any free hex editor will do. Open file in the hex editor. Scroll to 1/4 the way past the beginning. You may notice multiple 00. Not a good sign. Scroll to 1/2. If the 00 continue without change all the way to the end of the file...well you can add. !
