A’ight, I’ve knowticed several other people have got their OGM files working somhow, but ive tried everything on this thread and more, and mine still don’t play. I can open them with several players, without getting any kind of error message or anything like that, but none of them actually play. It says it is playing, but there is no audio or video and the file length is 0.0-0.0 seconds. Any ideas? ;(

I’ve got something really weird.

I downloaded just the direct show filters yesterday. First file worked fine, second file screwed up. Thought it was the second file, redownloaded it. Tried again, now first file wouldn’t work.

Went to check things out. Got the matroska thing. Installed it. OGM file played!

Second file didn’t play. Neither did the third, the first on the second file stopped playing again. Mouse pointer was suddenly much slower, as if the accelerator was shut down.

Restarted computer, still not work. Wanted to uninstall Matroska in order to reinstall the whole thing to trie: Windows XP won’t allow me to delete the files. What the!? Anyone any idea what’s the matter?

Thanks Bobert renaming the .ogm file to .avi got it playing in Winamp. I didn’t even need to get any more codecs. VLC is nice but I prefer using Winamp for everything if I can.

I recommend these tools/programs/filters etc:

Winamp
Tara winamp plugin to play QuickTime/RealPlayer
TTPack contains Directshow filters (will decode most video and audio), Quicktime, RealPlayer, Ogg Vorbis
and Windows Media Player (http://ksphere.free.fr/site/codecspackage.php)

It’s all you need.

Okay, to help you all out a bit. I downloaded a torrent file from www.isohunt.com. The torrent took 7 days to download and I thought it wasnt worth it at first.

Getting to the point...

To play .ogm files (which some torrent files come downloaded as) go to this website and download the program.

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Ogg_DirectShow_Filters.htm

Just download that and it should play in BSPlayer and Windows Media Player. It doesnt play in Winamp, you may have to find a seperate codec for it to play in Winamp. Hope this helps. Email me for questions.

the video plays beautifully, and there IS sound...but the sound is really messed up, to the point that it’s often ear-splitting and/or drowned out by static.
this is using VLC.

You can try to use CCCP. It is a codecpack which includes OGM, MKV, MP4, H264 and some others. It comes with 2 optional players, Media PLayer Classic and ZoomPlayer. But unfortunaaly, the pack doesnt works with Winamp. I use it myself with Media Player 10 without any problems. You can get if from http://cccp-project.net/
