Burning copies of home movies from dvdr to dvdr

okay a friend of mine put a home movie from our video camera onto a dvdr for us, now I want to make a copy of it, but every time I do it comes up with an error with BUP/IFO what is that and how can I burn these files. The movie will burn and play, but it stops alot and skips
