help!! crashes

heyy
can any1 please help me out...you see whenever i open a project on the movie maker if i just add a clip to the storyboard it just crashes and the whole program shuts down....so i cant make any movies...then today it said some 3ivx codec expried or i dont know....please help...so do i need some codecs? i have windows xp without the service pack 2

Installing SP2 is a good start and is free.Making a video file you need besides the software a lot of RAM and a good CPU. Extra memory is a budget problem same a fast CPU so if you have all these look for a fast video converter for whatever file you want to use before you start anything download and install tools like WinRar,GSpot,AviCodec,players and a decent codecs collection. http://www.free-codecs.com/
