Hello,

What I want to do is put MPG movies from my computer onto a Sony memory stick and watch them on tv through a/v out.

But the movies I wanted to watch on tv aren’t made by my Sony camera. I’m guessing Sony uses a specific avi codec. I’m curious if anyone knows what this codec is and more importantly, if there are any tools to convert files to this codec.

any ideas?

sony cybershot dsc-p72

Update I had an idea where I just took a regular mpg off my computer, put it on the memory stick and renaimed it to Sony’s name system “MOV00753” (for example).

On the camera it reads, 'File error'.

So any ideas?

From the web, the specs on the cam say mpeg-1. This may sound odd, but did the frame rate (fps - frames per second) and dimensions (352x240 etc.) of the movie you tried to import match those of the movies the camera generated? Also do movies from the camera have specific (constant or variable) bitrates or file structures (GOP structure - like number of I, B, and P frames per GOP - group of frames)?

I have the same camera and am trying to use it as a webcam with a tv card..problem seems to be the software or codec. It configures into cuseeme and netmeeting no problem, but is a black picture. did you find a codec or do you know about this?
thanks
