Guest5671234 Guest | I know a much simpler way to do this so-called difficult procedure.
“Instructions To Successfully Change A File From .ogm to .avi”
Programs Needed For This:
VirtualDub Mod
GoldWave
Windows Movie Maker
1. Import the .ogm video file into the VirtualDub Mod program.
2. Go to the “Video” option at the top of the screen, and then click on “Direct stream copy”.
3. Go to file, save as, and save the file to its original name, but add .avi at the end of it.
4. The file should’ve already saved in the location of it’s original .ogm file, but just in case click on the play button on the left bottom of the screen with the “I” symbol.
5. After this is done you’ll probably get an error message, just close it and your file should be there WITHOUT sound though.
6. Now open up the GoldWave program in order to get the sound.
7. Go to file and import the original .ogm file NOT the new .avi file.
8. When the program is done importing the file, AND you see horizontal red and green wave lines, go to file, save as, and save the file.
9. After the previous step the sound file should now be in the place where the .avi file and the original .ogm file is.
10. Now open your Windows Movie Maker program, and import both the .avi file and then the sound file.
11. Place the sound file at the bottom of the timeline first!
12. Click on the + sign magnifier and magnify the timeline to its highest level (or the level you want) this makes it easier to view the clips when you place them on the timeline.
13. Click on the icon on the far left that looks like a light switch to adjust the audio levels, and adjust the audio to the far right so the audio will play clearly.
14. Place the clips on the timeline in their correct order and save the project.
15. Finally simply go to file and then “Save Movie File...” and save it to whatever size you want and voila you have your .avi file with sound.

BlackWizzard Guest | Well i already know how to change OGM to AVI with the sound i want, the only problem now its the subtitles...cant get them enyway
I used a faq posted a few pages away, i’ve donne all he said and in the he said we could go for “unchengable” (fixed to the movie) subitles, and changeble subtitles (u can chose like on OGM or DVD), he explained hot to get “changeble” but i didnt understand how to make fixed sub
I’ve downloaded the filters, i used them and stuff, but for what a know, thats for making NEW subs, not for using the ones already donne in the OGM file, so its kinda of useless... or is there a way to get the subs from the ogm file and save it in a text file ? if teher is, how to do that ?
My guess is if you can get the subs to a text or any other file from the OGM it would be easy to add them to the AVI filme...
So enyone knows how to ?

sababa Guest | If u wanna see an ogm file just instal the filter at this link http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm
and u can watch all ogm movies with subtitles embedded in wmplayer(as long as the srtfile has the same name and is in the same directory)saves a hell lot of time

Imrahil Guest | I’m really just lost with the whole thing. I’m technologically impaired I guess. Is there an easy to figure out converter that I can download? Or can I get some good instructions on how to use either omgtoavi or virtualdubMOD cause I’ve tried both, and I really can’t figure either out. Could someone email me at naib@mad.scientist.com with some help?

Tyrael Guest | im getting an error with my videodubmod that reads -
“Couldn’t locate decompressor for format XVID (unknown).
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable. Only Direct stream copy is available for this video."
-
the funny thing is that this question was asked earlier in the thread and nobody seemed to help.

Zenlon Guest | to get the subtitles to work with ogmtoavi simply when it let’s you combine the avi file with the sound file, right click on the box which has the name of your avi file, press add and select the .srt file, and that’s all you had to do

Shango Guest | So I guess when the subs are embeded in the OGM file there is no way use the subtitle option in AVI2DVD?
Since it contacts no srt, txt files just the OGM file.

passworder Guest | The ogmtoavi Beta program works fine for me, but the ogm files i’m converting are automatically english dub I need to convert track 2 to the avi file. It converts the wrong sound file. I can’t add the file after the convertion.
Another problem is the subtitles. I don’t know how to get the subtitles to work on the avi file. Anyone can help? I tried or atleast tried to try, what Zenlon posted but it didn’t make any sense because there are no buttons whatsoever there, only information about the process.

Gudinne Guest | whoever mentioned the converter file from sourceforge kicks butt!! I read the babble on how to convert, and I was totally lost. This is simple, easy, and I don’t have to fiddle with the audio streams to figure out which one is english, it made them with english tracks by itself. I was very worried that they would come out in Japanese, which is the default audio on the files. Dude, you rock!

sakuya_su Guest | wow, thanks for the opinion XD, did know this project would turn out so well, i just thought sicnce converting in Widnows is so hard, i’d make it easier.
if you like it, please remember to recommand to others, we are currently looking at adding DVD Rip function and the ability to allow encoding of single files, so stay tuned for the next release!
