DVD goes in, computer goes blue.....??

All of a sudden, whenever I put a DVD in my computer, I get the dreaded blue screen and the computer reboots. The only thing I can think of is I deleted codecs for MPEG playback but I figure that shouldn’t have anything to do with this. Could I be wrong? Thanks for the help.
