I discovered something weird. When I play movies on my Compaq EVO N800v laptop they run smooth as silk until I disconnect the AC adapter, at which point they start to “jump” or how to say... They are still “watchable”, but the jumping is really annoying since it appears like once every second or so. I used DivX player 2.5.3 to play something like 4 or 5 movies and they all appeared in this manner... I checked if there was some kind of power saving setting for the HDD, but I couldn’t find anything like that.
Anyone knows what could be wrong?

My specs:
Pentium 4 M 1.6 GHz
256 MB ram
20 GB hdd, 10 GB free
Win XP pro, fresh installation
ATI radeon mobility 7500

Do you have any settings that reduce power usage while on battery? Perhaps you’re HDD runs in a low-power state, for example, to save battery life, and as videos are HDD and CPU intensive, this could affect performance...

Unreal! thank you!!!

I couldn’t figure out whay was going on with the video on my laptop... but plug it back into the mains and all is good...

I am running XP on a NEC Versa, 1.5GhZ, 256meg RAM, 32meg v’card...

I encountered the jumping problem with the screen saver as well!!! Buggered if I know why, but pluging it does the trick for me!!!! Cheers!!!
