Hi,
I downloaded the fix for MP43 codec and I read the readme document and don’t understand how to install the codec properly. I am trying to play .AVI files and I’ve tried playing them with Windows Media Player 9, RealOne Player & DIVX Player and with DivX, an error message appeared saying “The video file you are openign includes video data that is not recognized by
the DivX player.
The video file contains the following type of data :
Video Data: FOURCC code “MP43”

You may need to install a new video codec on your computer to watch this
video !"

With Real Player a message said “cant play back video stream, No suitable video decompressor could be found”

Could someone tell me what to download in order for my .avi files to work as I can only hear the sound but can’t see the video!

Thanks,
John

Hey! I’m having the same problem...I downloaded the codec linked to above, but the installation ReadMe makes no sense because it refers to a file, MPG4INST.INF, that doesn’t seem to exist. Or at least, it definitely isn’t in the .zip file. Does this need to be downloaded separately? If so, where could I find it? I really appreciate any help, Thanks!

delete the avi files n it will solve ur problem wink.

try to dowload mpegfix.zip from the above mentioned web site . extract the content to the folder C:\mpeg . there u will find something called mpeg4fix.inf . right click on that file n click on install . once it is done check whether ur purpose is fulfilled . if it is not , then try to find out which fourcc code is it referring to in system.ini file n its corresponding dll . if it is not referring to the one u had jes installed ..........try to change it to mpg4c32.dll . i guess this will solve ur problem .good luk smiley
