i have a 1.4GB video which is in avi and the audio is AC3 format. i loaded it into virtual dub, and managed to compress the video to half the bitrate but was unable to do the same for the audio.
i’ve done simple searches through google and i’ve seen a lot of 'decompressor' terms associated with AC3, but what i wanna knoe is whether i can recompress an AC3 format audio to a smaller bitrate? if so, how do i go about this? do i need any other codec besides the AC3 filter?

Go to www.Doom9.net. Open Audio Tools check BeeSweet and BeeLight(GUI for BeeSweet-easy to use)there you can load your AC3 file and recode with different bit rate.
