Can t play *.wav

cant play some files *.wav with windows media. The message was:codec not found...I been trying to get one and I was wondering is there any program other than windowns media that can play that?

I too have this problem, I can play some *.WAV files but others I cannot. and it does not matter if I use windows media player or winamp. I at one time had gr8 player.... it was really cool I think it played alot of things but it was glitchy. and now I am looking to fix the problem so I can play wav files without haveing to use gr8 player. (the only reason I used gr8) is because it was the only one I could find to play some wav’s. is there something I need in windows to solve this since windows media wont play some of them? the short wavs that come with messenger work and the wavs that play for windows functions work, but none of the music plays... weather downloaded or burned off of my own cds. I hope this might be enough information for a real geek/techie to help me... and you others also if the problem still exists.
