this is a post I made a couple of days ago on a different thread - I think it’ll help with a lot of the problems I’m reading about:

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The easiest way I’ve found to use virtual drives with downloaded image files is to use a combination of Daemon Tools (www.daemon-tools.cc) and Nero Burning Rom (www.nero.com). Occasionally, Alcohol 120% comes in handy, but those two programmes will emulate ample drives (up to about 10, used together), and will, between them, recognize most file types. Furthermore, Nero takes care of burning discs, and Daemon doesn’t take up much space. Cracks for these programmes (Daemon’s simple version - they’ve just gone pro - is still free) can be downloaded. Cracked versions are also available.

If you’ve downloaded a series of archive files (such as .rar), then I recommend downloading WinRAR (www.rarlab.com)to tackle them. Often, torrent downloads come in the form of many .RARs or *.R01, *.R02 etc. In either case, open with WinRAR, and extract the first file to a directory. This will use the rest of the files as necessary. Once extracted, you will probably end up with CD image files (e.g. *.ISO, *.MDF, *.CUE etc.) Some of these come in pairs - MDF is usually accompanied by and MDS file, for example. The above combination of programmes will almost certainly be able to mount one or the other of the two, with the same effect in each case. Once mounted, the install will run as it would from a disc, but the game itself will usually require a crack. This is sometimes provided with the game inside one of the CDs (My Computer -> right click CD Drive -> Open), but you may have to download one. I recommend MegaGames (www.megagames.com) - an easy-to-use and minimum-advertising site.

I hope this helps you all solve your problems. Any further queries, I check back here occasionally, so I’ll try to help! Good luck and happy gaming...

P.S. I do NOT endorse cracking software such as Nero and Alcohol 120%. I use legal versions, because most people don’t. The software they provide is powerful and expensive to maintain. As such, I would request that anybody who found this advice useful would at least consider buying their software. And no, they’re not paying me to say that.

thx... alot i actually burned it using alcohol 120% as every complicated file in the .IMG file became “setup.exe” when i burned the Image to cd. LOL thats just so cool. the .cue became obsolete and i just clicked to setup . But thx anyway. sacrificing 1 CD to play a game is worth it If you want to avoid complications.

I have a different situation. I used to extract .rar files from .tar files. then I choose one of them and click “extract files”. generaly it did and I had my .cue files or the data that I wanted. but this time it’s not a .rar file. It has only files like *.001 *.002 etc. how do I extract these ? Do I have to put them in single rar files and extract them again?

Use UltraIso to open the .img file. Then, if u cant burn directly from it, extract the content and burn it.
