Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 11 Jan 2006 Posts: 9 OFFLINE | I downloaded the K-lite codec pac. It did enable me to view movies that I was not able to before, but when I try to burn them I get an error message. It reads....
operating system error:Gdiplus::Status = 0x800401f3 -13
Can anyone tell me what this means and how I fix it? I would really appreciate the help.

Wannabe Rep: 0Joined: 13 Jan 2006 Posts: 11 OFFLINE | try using nero 7, you can aquire it using a bittorrent client from freewarefiles.com. then goto newnova.org click the apps tab then scroll down till you get to it. click and save the file then open it up on your bittorrent client, and wait for it to download. winrar might be required to open it. hope this helps

AlexC Guest | I am getting this error too and I am a little annoyed because I upgraded Sonic and it still happens. However a little digging around has lead me to this...
Sonic install a version of Gdiplus.dll in the main and the sonic shared directory and their main exe checks that version against the one in windows\system32 - if they are different then it won’t work. Period.
Thanks to M$ updating their Gdiplus.dll against the malware that can exploit it and Sonic not being able to realise this Sonic now no longer works and hasn’t done since this vunerability was patched.
Nero works fine though - it uses it’s own version of Gdiplus.dll (NWUGdiplus.dll or something like that) and gets around it like that.
Anyone who knows HOW to fix this then please let me know!

Jim Plunkett Guest | I am getting this same error message when using Sonic Digital Media Studio 7 when attempting to burn Tivo shows to DVD. After all of the Tivo content is setup to burn to DVD, the program cancels and ejects my blank DVD, and this error message pops up. Would appreciate any help that anyone may have in resolving this issue. I have had this issue on the Sonic Support site since January 14 and have had no reply. I called their desktop support, and all they came back with was to download and install their GDIPlus patch. I did, and had no change in the problem or the error message. I updated my online support request to advise them of this 2 days ago and still no response. I think Sonic’s Support system stinks!

AlexC Guest | OK - long process but I got it to work once...
I uninstalled Sonic, used a registry cleaner the went into the registry and manually deleted all Sonic entries. I then restarted, uninstalled all of the codec packs I had, ran the registry cleaner, restarted. Reinstalled Sonic, reinstalled the codec pack, restarted (IMPORTANT: Do NOT restart when Sonic tells you too - restart when you have installed the codec pack).
I then worked for about 5 discs - something else went wrong with it so I uninstalled it in the end and went and purchased Ulead DVD Factory 4 - a little more complex but it has now burned 15 discs with no issues.
The GDIplus patch from Sonic only replaces the GDIplus in their install directory for older versions of Sonic (6.02 and below) and it would appear that their version of GDIplus seems to mess everything up with it in the first place. Nice product testing Sonic :/

Aercool Guest | I’m getting the same error with Sonic MyDVD. I’ve wasted 4 DVD-R discs, and about an hour of my time with the Sonic help desk. They don’t know what’s going on. They suggested trying the gdiplus patch with my anti-virus software turned off, and that didn’t work either. The only thing that they can figure out is that my Gateway (Win XP) computer didn’t come with a c:\windows directory, it’s only got c:\WINNT. They seem to think that the patch didn’t look for the WINNT subdirectory. Anybody else have any updates with this problem?

AAF Guest | At this time I don’t even have antivirus software loaded and none of the suggestions seem to work for me. And the Windows vs WINNT directory may be an obstacle but it didn’t affect me and I still have the same issue.

Yesterday I fixed the problem. I realized that there was a program or file installed in my pc that was creating a conflict in the dvd burning process with “sonic My DVD” . My OP was originally XP home edition and I made the upgrade to XP Prof. but a free version “you know what I mean” maybe that was the problem. I start to backup all my files and run the system recovery, and then like magic I was burning my home videos in dvd’s like a pro, with no problems at all. You should try it. You got nothing to loose if you back up your files.

Matt86 Guest | Hey, I’m having the same errors come up once I click “Burn." The first time I did it, a pop up from McAfee told me that there had been a registry change and files didn’t match up, etc. I clicked Allow. I figured that would solve my problem, but immediately afterwards I got the Gdiplus 80040217-13 error. I installed a Gdiplus patch off of Sonic’s website and that didn’t do anything. I’m about to uninstall this program, it’s horrible. It has given me nothing but problems in the past and present.
