trying to play .rm files with soft subs - need help please...

here’s the deal...

someone told me to install crystal player and real player on my systems and that would allow crystal to use real players codecs to decompress the video stream...
since real player doesn’t support subtitles, this was the way to go...
i had installed both and this was working like a charm, until i had to reinstall my os and start from scratch...
now i tried to use the same method again, however, crystal player is now unable to locate video stream regardless of the fact that real player has also been installed...
anyone know a solution for this?
any help is much appreciated...
