XviD MPEG4 codec?

hi,i keep getting a message when trying to play certain films,it says XviD MPEG4 codec not registered,or missing?.

can anyone tell me where i can find this codec please.
i would prefer just this codec if possible? i.e not part of a codec pack etc.
