AVI Video Clips will not play with any codec.

I have installed 5 or more AVI codecs and I still can not play the files. I have used Windows Media Player, DivX Player, and VideoLAN Player. I have also tried DVDate and the AVI type can not be found in there either. HOW CAN I GET THESE TO WORK?????

what OS are you using and what other info can you give that will help identify what .avi codec was used. also some players will play audio only or video only but not both. is this your problem? or is it something else

I am using XP and i have no picture or sound. I have tsunami pack, sld pack, and matroska pack installed. I also have xvid, divx , and ffdshow installed.

download a program called avicodec and run the avi file through it. it will analyse it and point you in the right direction as to where to get the codec you need. I just downloaded it today and it has solved my problems.
