MPG not playing video

I’ve got a .mpg file that’s not playing the video but the audio on windows media player. Apparently it tried searching for a codec but failed ~_~;;. I have the ffdshow codec pack but i am unable to install media player classic so could someone please point me to a program/codec that would play the video? Thanks so much!
