Ok first of all, yes it is true there is a version of the codec which does ted to crash both windows media player and divx (don’t have more so don’t know about other programs) but the post by Buffyken showed both versions of the coded......so when I had the error and crashing (apart form almost crying...lol) I just installed the other one.....who knows maybe the codec that was crashing my system could work with a diferent audio type or whatever, so why bother uninstalling it...) so MY advice is install both versions,.....u can finde both here:

http://audiotag.org/codecs/ac3audiocodec.shtml

And remember if it works al the credit goes to Buffyken....but if u still wanna send money to me...please...feel free..I insist

Work like a charm for those of you with XP ... I heard other files will cause loss of Video along with the audio.... This fixes it all!

I had that same Tag pop up when I tried to play a movie so I downloaded the AC3 filter, but I am not so computer literate because it’s not working, I still hear no sound. Any suggestions?

No sound and you think it may be the following error - Audio data: Tag 8192. Then download from the following site: http://download.divxmovies.com/ac3codec.zip

Open this saved file using Winzip (Classic is best and easiest) and hit install. Viola!

It fixed my sound problems and hopefully yours too. I could never get to grips with AC3 Filter....

HAd trouble with an avi, it had no sound and required a codec with an 8192adio data tag.
downloaded ac3filter_0_70b.exe and that sorted it out no bother
