OK, first off again, thanks to the founder of the 1892 (whatever) codex. For those of u haveing problems on XP with wmp and divx not working. Make sure u have the service pack 2 inatalled and everything(i mean everthing)updated. microsoft will offer all this for free. once u do that. make a new folder in ur (mydocuments) name it whatever u want, download both codex from the site, save to file(s) then, open them from its loc. the comp will tell u where its gonna put it, install both and presto, U have Audio. ANd to be on the safe side, make a system restore before u install and restart comp after installing. good luck

You know how you search and search and SEARCH for stuff on the Internet about how to fix stuff like this - audio codecs and whatnot - and you read a thread that’s all like “OMG this worked!!! Thx u sooo muhc!!!" and you sit there, PRAYING that their suggestions work but having the gut feeling that it probably won’t since only about 25% of the time do things you find in threads work?

Yeah, this is totally not like that - it SO worked! I’m so happy I could cry!

If your media player (which ever one you’re using) crashes, use these two files: http://audiotag.org/codecs/ac3audiocodec.shtml to fix it. And remember to delete the original ac3codec file you installed, that one does not work with some programs. smiley Good luck.

I downloaded the filter and my movies work, except the sound is very very low even though the volume is at max. Is that b/c of the codec or is that b/c of the computer or is that b/c of the movie (I downloaded it)? Anyone who has an idea please let me know and if they know any way to fix it. Thanks.

I’ve had the “Tag 8192” problem, though I took the advise of Savior and installed the Ac32codec patch. Like some people, I’m running XP, so it crashed the Windows Media player, as well as the Divx player. However, later I installed the “Ac32 codec filter” file, and boom, it works perfectly.

What I am wondering is, do I need to uninstall the original “Ac32codec” file, since the “Ac32codec filter” fixed the problem, or can I leave it in my PC? Will it do harm to my PC? If I do have to uninstall it, how do I go about doing it?

I had it uninstalled and then I installed just the filter and it worked perfectly, so I don’t think you need both. (I’m also using XP)
