Am new to buring and I ain't got a clue!!

Ok, just bought my first DVD Writer.

I want to put some tv episodes onto DVD so that I can watch them on my TV via the DVD player.

Dvd has following:-
DVD+R + RW recording formats
record from VHX/DVD/TV/Satellite/MP3/CD or Photo CD
Plays DVD/CD/MP3 & Kodak picture CD

So anyways, I have no clue how to burn DVD’s. Can burn files for back up just fine but when it comes to file types etc...I’m a complete novice.

Will .avi .mpg and bin&cue files burn onto dvd so I can play it on my dvd player??

What file types should I be looking out for?

I have Nero 6 Ultra Edition and Alcohol 120...
