nvingo Guest | I got those problems when I first tried.
I then used Windows Movie Maker (XP) to “import” my videos and resize/rate them to .wmv, and the 2smv utility happily converts THAT although it reports “failed” when opening the preview window.

tinylittlescren Guest | Something i’ve figured ot:
- If your Screen is 1.5 inch use max. 128*128 Pixel
- If your Screen is 1.8 inch use max. 160x128 Pixel
- keep the framerate low: 10frames per second is enough and decrease the filesize enormally
- use only the Full Image-Option, not the full screen-Option: full-image will better fit on various screens
- if the size of your smv-file is lower than 10MB, your codec for the original-file (mpg, avi,...) isn’t proper installed or from illegal sources; the smv won’t work ...

tinylittlescreen Guest | sigmatel scheme supports the convert of the following video format:
1¡ RAW
2¡ AVI
3¡ DIVX
4¡ MICROSOFT
5¡ INTEL INDEO
6¡ WMV
7¡ MPG
The SigmTel SDK also contains PC transcoding software to convert common PC video files into the SMV file format. Frame image processing can be carried out during the actual transcoding process and video tone styles or logo overlays can be applied to the resulting file. Using a proprietary motion video file format, SigmaTel’s portable multimedia solutions can deliver video performance of 10 frames per second (fps) at resolutions of 128x128, or 15 fps at resolutions of 96x64. A normal 128 MB SMV file can store up to one hour of video content and higher compression rates can be selected to store longer video files.

I’ve bought an AKAI Tjed-7008 1Giga (160*128 pixel) with Sigmatel processor. Akai’s site doesn’t show even my player!!
I’ve tried ALL SMV converter, from release 1 to 4 (which is renamed SMV_Transcoder 4.0): None of them works!
I’ve tried with Nero Recode2 converting from .avi to mpeg4 avd and then transcoding the result to 160*128/10fps: nothing to do!!
It seems that only few lucky ppl are appreciating this chipset, it’s sad to have a product that only “on paper” works...
Any suggestion?
Thanks 4 reading.

from belgium Guest | the *.AMV is not the same as the *.smv .
it is true that the AMV has less problem than hte SMV.
RE: framerate 10 or 15 makes with my converer no diffrence in file size.
use framerate 10 and mono sound 11k , +-31 -37 kb for video bits in 1sec 128*128 and that gives the most kwality to the video for your mp4 sigmatel.
I recomend the ACE codecs pro 6.03 lite mode
when you covert the file with nero recode also put the resulution closer to 128 *128 for a faster converter.
PS: the people who has SMV can’t use AMV and otherwise also not. 2 diffrent codes.
hope that helps you
I also have a problem i overcharged my MP4 and now it wont start up, the batery is fine and no leaks.
i tried the downloads for a reinstal of the bios given by custemur support but it wont work...
help wanted!

How can u say that the battery is fine?

DJ HASib Guest | I think all the converters works but the mistake is that you must first put the avi, mpg, etc to the console for ex i put my video file in my mp3 player and after that i use the converter to convert it to the same path.....
I hope this help alot ppl

tinylittlescreen Guest | I’ve exchanged my teac mp-360 against an Philips SA3115/02 (both 1.8inch screens); the Philips Media Converter works much better than the original Sigmatel Transcoders. You could download the english software with 87MB from theire Homepage. But remember: its only good for Players with 1.8inch screens (no resize possible).

from belgium Guest | i opend my mp3 player and checkt the batery with a volt meter. no reset button only an entery point for the mic.
DJ HASib is right . you have less chance of an error if you have the input and uitput file on a removeble disk or something, that theory is according to my experiance with the device true. i still have to wait for the envloppe to return to supportplus.... 2 weeks have passesd and still no reply.
grts

from belgium Guest | yes i tried it,but it has no reset button.
perhaps the battery is giving to mutch power and is overloading the mp3?
is that possible?
