AC3DVM is Satanic?

Quite a few of my avi movies have the AC3DVM audio codec.

Most of them work fine and I can hear perfectly.

But for other movies, the sound is muffled, garbled, scratchy and sounds pretty much as described in the Topic title.

Anyone know anything about this? Does it sound familiar?
