AVI movies cause computer to crash/hang/restart

Hi,
I have a real problem with the AVI on MS media player 9 lately, my mp9 was very good to me where it run my anime movies smoothly. However, for some reason it went nuts 2 days ago, I have not download/install any codes/programs at all before this problem happens. Please help me

I am also having a similar prob... some animes work but some don’t for me. For example, Ninja Scroll works but FLCL and Cowboy Bebop just crash 5 seconds into running it. I don’t know if the encoding of the .avi files are weird for different animes or what.
