Madden Guest | Okay i can tell by reading the other postings that im way behind the times. I just got back from deployment and im playing with my comp for the first time in a while.
I used a torrent to download the new Harry Potter flic. It came down as Harry.Potter.And.The.Goblet.Of.Fire.XViD.TS-maVen.3411463.TPB When i opened the file it was two folders marked CD1 and CD2. I tried multiple programs to open the files i found inside but i cant. I have XVID and DIVX codecs.
Can someone please help a struggling idiot?

Marcus Aurelius Guest | If you read the forum you get your answer faster but anyway: your file is a Xvid format and after download you get a collection of files in rar format (compressed).First to decompress all files use WinRar select all and extract on desktop or folder. You’re going to get cd1 and cd2 I guess around 700 mb one and 5-600 mb the other. You can watch these files on your pc but you need some codecs for that: All in One or K-Lite or XP Codecs and Xvid pack and DivX pack.Besides these is good to install AC3 filter for audio and some good players like VLC,BSplayer and Media Classic.Go to this site and start downloading:http://www.free-codecs.com/
After that if your files play ok sound and picture you may convert them in order to watch the movie on your tv using a standalone dvd player and to do that you need a video converter and this is not free but all from above are freeware. From the same site download GSpot and Avicodec bot very good video analysers and if you open the avi you get after decompressing all rars is going to give you some detailes about your file what type and what codecs you may need to play it.Hope I gave you some ideas.

Marcus Aurelius Guest | Soccer I hope you read my prev.reply and start with Winrar and if the decompressing works try to open the file with GSpot and see what you get.Might be in cue/bin format and that’s a image file and works with any iso tool or just Daemon Tools.

Madden Guest | Soccer-
Marcus was right on. If you cant find a way to open it in Winrar (sometimes it opens it as a file that doesnt play right away) then download Daemon to convert the files. If you end up with two seperate portions and you want to burn them to a single movie then nero allows you to do that. It will inform you once you go to burn to dvd (if that’s what youre doing) that you have two seperate files with a break between them. It will then ask you if you want to make them continuous. If you press yes then it will download it to a DVD under a single file. All this is available under the “make DVD video” function on Nero. Nero takes a little while to get but i was able to get it using Bit Torrents.
