Marcus Aurelius Guest | Standalone means a dvd player connected to your tv the one is on your entertainment centre optical on pc is a dvd rom drive or dvd burner both can play a dvd.If your pc is new and you have a dvd player software like a Power DVD or Win DVD try to play the dvd with.If you don’t have a dvd player installed try to download this and install it: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm From the same site download free players like VLC,BSplayer or Media Classic. Also is good to have for audio AC3 filter. All from above are freewares onlu Power DVD and Win DVD are shareware so you have to buy it.Good Luck
