Hey guys, I searched the forum for my problem, but I can’t get a deffinate answer, so I guess I just ask it now.

I have Limewire 4.8.1 and I have yet to update it. But I can’t preview .avi files, and I dont know what codec to get my hands on. I can run avi files fine, but I cant view half downloaded .avi’s, especially big files which means I’m downloading blind.

Any help is muchly appreciated.

Leo

Really it is a big problem, specially with new
movies, i have two times downloaded movie
'eurotrip', and the name was shown in limewire
search as “Iceage 2 meltdown”.
I hope someone knows how to preview these avi
(mostly dvdrips,xvid,divx) before completely
downloading them.

I tried that VLC player and it still wouldnt play for me so another way to see wat your downlaoding is to get Total Video COnverter. It comes with a MEDIA PLAYER that you can use to watch the incomplete files with by setting it as your default player or opening the incomplete file with it while limewire is closed. it works

Most players need the whole file to decode and play i recomend avipreview(http://www.avipreview.com/) to view incomplete movies you have to go to the file using open option in avipreview but it works fairly well and it’s free.

i think that someone should send the problem into limewire so that they are aware of this issue. They could include some codec that does this! lol.

I find the AVI Preview works SOMETIMES but very SLOW ...but you only need it for a few mins to see if it works properly and its the right movie..but I find it works on straight DVD RIPS opposed to Screeners and Coded movies..but it works good on certain DVD Rips...you can also try getting a XviD or DivX codec and run those whilst on limewire..should work..but Your better off going to forums like hundredbling.net or projectw.org to find movies atleast you know what your getting and quality etc.

Ciao.

well i experienced all the same crap as above. AVI PREVIEW BOMBS OUT! i d/l a program called video fixer (found crack for it in cracks from the whole world). when u try to view a file that is d/l it creates a review file. i fix that file and play it! creates a perfect avi file. then we know whether we are in BUSINESS! SAT FOR HOURS LOOKING FOR SOLUTIONS! THIS WAS BEST I FOUND THUS FAR!LITTLE WORK BUT IT WORKS
