Jenn Guest | Ok I have read over this entire post. I too, am having the same problems. I downloaded the radtools program. Well when I went to convert, there was an error. I can’t find anything on here talking about it. Does it just mean the file is corrupt? Please help me!

James H Guest | I bought QuickTime Pro to do this with, but BEWARE! Using QuickTime Pro to convert MOV to AVI results in an annoying loss of quality in the video clip, even on 'best' setting.

Mr. Everyman Guest | I hate Apple. I hate Apple. I hate how they take all of my files and make my computer think it’s a mac. If there was a man named Mac in front of me, I would split his wig with a .40 caliber.

in_need_of_advice Guest | I used RADtools sucessfully to convert a MOV. file to an AVI.file, however when I import it in Windows Movie Maker it shuts the program down immediately and gives a 'not responding' error. Does anyone know why it does this?

Robertsmith1991 Guest | Ok WOW, I am so fed up right now.
I just bought the Casio Exilim EX-S880 and I am about to throw that thing against the floor!
I make youtube videos and everything and this cameras “big” feature was how it “UPLOADS STRAIGHT TO YOUTUBE! NO FUSS!".... How misleading...
YES, it does upload straight to youtube, if you want to just do a quick video of just you walking around with your camera or just sitting there talking... But what about if you want to edit something? Edit in music? Edit in a transition? Edit in a different clip? Oh yeah, it wont do that
The files my camera makes at .MOV files... And I want to import them into Windows Movie Maker to edit the video files (My sister has a song, and it imports into WMM, and works fine! WTF is with my camera?!) Anyways, They wont import, so I started reading this huge board of posts. I have tried SO many things
That RADTool or whatever is PURE CRAP. I downloaded it, and it DOES transfer them to .AVI format (if the video is like... 10 seconds long...) But the quality is HORRIBLE, it wont transfer the audio and it makes the video WAY slow... Talk about a pain.
I tried a few others that I forget, but none of them did the job either. I called Casio and they didnt help at all, they just spun me in circles.
WHAT IS A GOOD PROGRAM TO CONVERT .MOV TO .AVI or .MPEG?! I just want to be able to import these into Windows Movie Maker and edit
PLEASE HELP

RPS Guest | Thank you all so much for the RAD video tools. It works like a wonder. After trying out different softwares for a long, long time, I was finally able to convert a file from .mov to .avi.The file size can be made smaller by simply making the compression quality 0, after choosing ideo@video5.10 from the drop down menu, with negligible difference in quality. The size can further be reduced using Windows Movie Maker, which converts it to .wmv.Once again, THANK YOU.

rukhsanaphotography Guest | Hi All,
I solved my issues with this today, as this website was one that kept turning up in my searches i thought it would be relevant to post my solution here.
My Problems
File would not load into windows movie maker was my inital issue.
I got to the stage where it was essential to convert the file using a movie converter. This creates another entire issue there are so many converters out there, some work some don’t.
I used a converter named
SUPER © v2007.build.23
at website
http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
This provided 1/2 a solution it would convert the file to play in windows media player and import into movie maker....however when i dragged the clip into the time line i could hear but not see the clip.
After more reserch i decided to download a codec pack called
k-lite from
http://www.codecguide.com/
allthough i actually downloaded from this place
http://www.majorgeeks.com/K-Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack_d5230.html
when installing the K-lite codec pack i uninstalled all the codecs it suggested i uninstall and agreed to the recommendations the installation wizard suggested.
I can now finally import and edit what were once files created by a panasonic hybrid movie camera into windows movie maker.
heres the short guide to it
download the program from here to convert your files to wmv format.
http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
After you convert the file you will most likely be able to import your movie and play it on wmp but when you drag it into the time line of movie maker you will hear but not see it. If this is true then download the codec pack below
http://www.majorgeeks.com/K-Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack_d5230.html
Good luck !!

You need to have Quicktime installed on your computer otherwise it will give you that error.

Bingly Bee Guest | I have Kodak Easy Share Z885 and I have 2 problems with .mov files it produces.
1. When i play them in Quicktime they are unbarably choppy.
2. It is not common enough format so picasa for example does not see it.
I downloaded MPlayer that plays those files a lot better than Quicktime.
I also tried the same options as people have been suggesting here so far. The problem with Rad tools is that even if I convert without any compression (producing a file that is 25 times larger than original) it still looses quality on both video and audio. Any codec I use to compress it will only make it worse.
The only option I have not tried is Quicktime pro.
That guy that posted QuickTime Pro link twice is probably working for Quick time and probably posted the thanks message to himself too.
I might consider paying for it if it produces a better result, but since QuickTime was not even able to play it’s own format properly to start with I don’t think that will be the case.
In any case I am not risking the frustration of paying 30 bucks to find out.
Quicktime sucks!!!
And Kodak sucks for using its format.
