Please HELP!! I’m making a movie w/ WMM2 and everything is fine but the video. It’s choppy. The audio that goes with it was a mess too but after reading all the forum discussion on here I finally got the codec right. But the video is still a choppy mess. Please, I’m about to freak out from frustration. Thanks in advance!

RE: QuickTime mov to Windows MovieMaker

There have been numerous queries about converting .mov to a Windows MovieMaker friendly format. Here is my input into this - I hope someone finds this useful. Do post back if this was good (or even if you find it is not good so others may benefit - this is the purpose of having these website forums. We are all either seeking help or trying to help someone)

My personal suggestion: Get <MPEG Streamclip>

This is an Open Source (free) application. (Got the blurb below from their homepage)

- It is a powerful video converter, player, editor
- It can play many movie files, not just MPEGs;
- it can convert MPEG files between muxed/demuxed formats for authoring;
- it can encode movies to many formats, including iPod;
- can also download videos from YouTube and Google
- it is a converter for QuickTime files, MPEG-1/2/4 files and transport streams (.ts and .m2t).

It fully support these formats to convert into another format:
MPEG, VOB, PS, M2P, MOD, VRO, DAT, MOV, DV, AVI, MP4, TS, M2T, MMV, REC, VID, AVR, M2V, M1V, MPV, AIFF, M1A, MP2, MPA, AC3...

Honestly guys, try this out. Its free. You’d have to be CRAZY not to. I notice most of the posts in this forum seem to be asking the same question. ie “how can I convert .mov to WMovieMaker format” etc

Suggestion: use this if something else you’ve tried hasnt worked for you.

I think Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD/MPEG converter Lite can help you , just download it at http://www.oursdownload.com/convert-video-to-VCD-DVD-SVCD-MPEG1-MPEG2-format.html , it works very well .

Sony Vegas seems to work well with the MOV file as well as the converted MPG file. I like it better than Pinnacle and it’s not such a resource hog. It also has nice features although they are a bit harder to find at first, but it’s a really nice program. It also has multiple video tracks where you can work with masking and stuff.

Rad helped me a lot to convert .mov to .avi. My videos are made from a Kodak c340 camera. I converted and uploaded 6 videos to my blog site without problems. However, now when I upload — either the .mov or the rad converted .avi files — there is a tremendous amout of noise on the audio that destroys the audio. I have tried several uploads, but to no avail. Why this sudden problem? I have no clue. Can anyone help me. All of the videos play well on my local pc, I only get the noise problem after uploading to my blog site.

Yes. You can also do this using ffmpg MPLEG Streamclip, both Open Source and free.

I am trying to convert .mov files to .avi files (or files that anyone can play) but this is turning out to be a nightmare. I tried using Rad Tools and although that works great, is easy to use and converts the file correctly, it is still too large to email. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If it’s too big, you can open up Windows Movie Maker and then just save it. That’s what I do with my WinCam files after I convert them to .avi . If you cannot find Windows Movie Maker on your Computer, just click on Start and then click in search. Just search for Windows Movie Maker and you computer will find it. If not, just download it.
