Just found this thread. Looks like there is MILLIONS of us that hate quicktime. I don’t know why every website don’t just use MPG or MP3s???? They will both play in ALL players..

Must be a money thing.

If your using a kodak easy share camera and have the easyshare software (you can download it for free). You can convert the mov files to avi. Just click the movie and press edit. Then push save as. Click on the file type box and change it to avi. The weirdest thing though is that when you rename it, you must type in ".avi” after the file name. If you don’t, even though you have the file type as avi, the program will save it as a mov.
I figured that I’d post this to see if this helped anybody. I really wish there was a better free way, since you lose a lot of quality when you do it like this.

How to Convert mov to avi OR convert mov to movie maker compatible?

Get MPEG Streamclip. Free. No conditions. No trial period. Available for Mac or Windows PC. Convert one file type into another.

Hope this helps.
Kind wishes

My problem: [mov] files convert to [mpeg] extension thtought [avi] extension. Mp4cam2avi is only a beta version. Error reports are this: Can`t create output file, check the name and directory.Near Batch conversion is error report like this: Cannot join file - different framerate. Files was made on Olympus SP500UZ.
