I one time made some adjustments for information as frames, time elapsed, fps to sort of give you an idea of the video clip you were doing. When I play back I get just the information and that is it. No picture. Now I can’t get out of it, disable it. I went to regedit and deleted all references to blink and smak uninstalled and reinstalled and it sems that my computer is giving me the same installation with what I had. Anyone out there been using this and can help me out.

Stacey_S Guest | Hey... i like many others found this thru google and was havin issues with quicktime .mov files .... i saw DAVEMAZM’s advice and searched for the River Past Video Cleaner and found a free download - it was really fast to get and changed my .mov files instantly to be able to view them in windows media player - just what i wanted ... so cheers to Dave for the advice!!!!
Only downfall is the small logo of a vidoe reel which comes up in the corner or the converted video - any ideas of how to gt rid of this at all?
thanks again Dave Stacey x

Dani Guest | Hi Stacey, I have RiverPast and don’t have the watermark you talked about. I got mine from Georgia19. Her posts are on this forum as well. You might try getting a copy from her and see if that helps. She also included an activation key, which may be what you need.

Georgia19 Guest | Due to an overwhelmingly amount of requests for a free copy of River Past, I am sorry to say that I can no longer comply to your requests. I’m very sorry. I enjoyed helping many of you but since I am not the original owner of this software I am not at liberty to share this with you any longer. I do, however, see from a previous post that a free copy of River Past is also available online. Good luck.

Ribsy Guest | Hmmm...just tried the River Past trial version and it ruined the MOV clip I converted. No motion at all when replayed and just some squeaky noise in the background.
Guess I should have made a copy of it first, though at least I picked a clip of my kid that wasn’t terribly memorable to start with.

Ribsy Guest | Okay dokes.
I tried a second time, opting to save a renamed copy to another folder, and while I don’t know why that would make a difference in it converting properly rather than just renaming the existing clip in it’s newly converted form, it did.
Now if I could just figure out why WinDVD Creator doesn’t seem to make those cute movies with the sound intact I’d be even another step closer to having this “great” feature on my Kodak not be next to useless.
Thanks for all the posts here by Dave, Georgia, et al. & Dr. John’s blog.
Good to know there’s a brain trust out there when you need one.

scubaSteve Guest | I can suggest 2 freeware programs for converting Quicktime .mov files to other formats.
My preferred suggestion is MPEG_Streamclip which you can get here: http://www.squared5.com/ They have a windows and an Apple version. You can combine movies, cut and edit movies and convert them to AVI or MPEG format or DV. It’s fast and easy. You will need to have Quicktime or the Quicktime Alternative installed on your computer to complete the install, but it works great on digital camera movie files. The second converter I’ve used is Super-c at http://www.erightsoft.com/home.html. This program also will convert mov files to AVI or MPEG, but doesn’t do the editing like MPEG_Streamclip does.

MrNysGuy Guest | just as like what the other people in this forum says: there’s a lot of ways to convert .mov file/s to make windows media player play the movie file, what i’m telling is also another way to convert it.
here’s how:
1. if you have a cd-writer, then it’s very easy to make the jobs done.
2. this instruction is based on nero, if your burning program is other than nero, just make sure there’s an option that you can make a vcd or svcd out of it.
3. anyway, let say your burner is nero, just launch the program and look for “make vcd” or “make svcd” option (i never tried making svcd, only vcd) then follow the on-screen instruction (don’t be so lazy, read it!). the next section is very easy if you are an experienced nero user (it’s just the same as burning data, mp3, or an audio cd. just add the file...and...bla..bla..bla...) and wait until it finishes the process (just be patient, this process may take a little longer, it depends on the speed of the drive, yeah of course also with the computer’s performance. it will encode (just like converting) the file first and then burning process takes place.
4. the burned file/s is/are now converted into .DAT file, we all know that windows media player, regardless of the version can play vcd and the file in a vcd is a .DAT file.
very easy isn’t it? i hope this will give you a little help.
