Dani Guest | I think I’ve found a way around this whole mess with .mov files. I didn’t realize that there are quite a few good video editors, besides Windows Movie Maker that can use .mov and convert them to mpeg4 or DVD movies, and many other types. It thought about switching my OS to XP, which has Movie Maker and supports QuickTime Pro 7, but that OS requires activation, so if you format your hard drive often, as I do to keep it running more smoothly, it’s not the one for you. Windows 2000 doesn’t require activation, so you can reuse it without problems, but it doesn’t include Movie Maker. So, the logical choice is to get a video/movie making program that can edit .mov files in the first place, instead of converting them and then editing in another program. There are several that can do this. I found a 2006 review that compares video movie making programs. It’s found at: http://video-editing-software-review.toptenreviews.com/ I haven’t decided which one I’ll get, but I hope this helps someone. Video Edit Magic offers a free 30 day trial, so I think I’ll try that first before I buy anything. It’s one of the top 10 rated programs.

SCR Guest | I am trying to convert a Google Video file to Real player and cannot get anything that will do this. I want to run it on a business website and my software will not support Google Video but it does support Real Player. Any ideas are greatly appreciated as I have never done anything in video before.

Georgia19 Guest | I see a lot of you are still struggling with different ways of converting video clips. Some of you have contacted me for a free copy of River Past but most of you are still struggling with different devices and going nowhere fast. Read some of the earlier posts where davemazm informed you all of RiverPast and where both Dave and I offered you free copies. The offer is still good. Just contact me directly.

Dani Guest | Thank you so much to Georgia19 for her recommendation of RiverPast Video Cleaner. It works wonderfully! And, it’s free. I tried seven other downloaded programs, only one other one worked (Video Edit Magic) but it is $30 after the free trial to activate. RiverPast is just a simple conversion tool. It doesn’t have video editing software with it, which I didn’t need anyhow. I appreciate the simplicity. Again, thank you.

Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 17 Feb 2006 Posts: 4 OFFLINE | I am using “RADVideo” and have no problems converting .mov to .avi or to an .exe but can’t seem to change the origional sound to music. When I first downloaded to program I could do sound with /radvideo “bink it” but then one day I added some stuff that would tell me all sorts of information about my file and it is preventing me from doing music. I emailed radvideo and they did return to say uninstall and he reinstall and that did now work. Now they won’t answer me al all anymore. I sent them attachments showing them what is happening. Here is what I think about them and it is a GOOD PROGRAM and it is freeware however they would like for you to use paypall and donate. When they, I THINK, realize you are not going to donate they just do not communicate with you anymore. But anyone using this program? I am a novice and it is at times difficult to run program. Radvideo “smackit” works fine but when I add my movie and music sound baground to a slide presentation there is no way to make a black baground to the movie like “blinkit” They really need a forum page.

Hi everyone!
I’m currently developing a freeware tool
to convert and join .mov or .mp4 to .avi
It works with mpeg4 and mjpeg video content and does’n re-encode video (direct stream copy conversion).
You can download it here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mp4cam2avi/
GrayWolf you are a life saver. It worked just fine. It is very professional. Awsome.
Thanks for your hard work
