D_M Guest | I can play the majority of AVI files on my computer, but for some reason, certain AVI files won’t work (using Media Player Classic, it says it can’t render the file). GSpot doesn’t recognize it as a valid AVI file, but I know it is because it has played on my friends computer. I can’t figure out if I’m missing a specific codec... | |

topcat139 Guest | Did you try mpc using the built in filters as well? If that works then try using a filter manager to sort out your codecs. You may just have a conflict between two that can handle the same format. That is 'contention' between the codecs. It could cause files to not be recognized. Try opening them in VDub, or even give avimedic a try, might be able to see the codec needed.
to organize your codecs try Radlight Filter manager, allows you to reg/unreg and set priorities etc. Great little tool.
luck,
