This file worked for me.

http://download.divxmovies.com/ac3filter_0_70b.exe

I had a movie that would produce sound in VLC but not in Winamp 5.0.8e.

Before the install of this file, Winamp would use Ahead Software’s Nero NeAudio.ax found in my C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter directory. This would produce no sound.

After, it is using the AC3Filter v0.70b

Somehow Nero screwed up my Winamp for this solitary movie file (all others in my vast collection always played fine on Winamp)

Thanks to all grin

yes, new Direct-X (9.0c is it ?) shouldn’t hurt, hope everyone has good luck with their codecs smiley

I tried nemo pack, it had a nice little arsenol with it, but one must realise, when you have 10 thousand codecs trying to process and digitally stream your multimedia, they’re going to tend to cross wires with one another, and that you don’t need.

So, it’s back to basics: format if neccessary, or just uninstall all that garbage. get ur Direct X, and then u’ll want WMP, winDVD, or Realplayer as a player, Go directly to the microsoft site BUT BEWARE, some of the codecs are only sponsored there, not made by microsoft themselves (cough....divx...)

you’ll soon realise that you don’t need all these fancy (lagging) bells and whistles.

Remember to always wear your safety belt !
