Strange audio problem

I have a very strange problem with the playback of ANY format of video. It doesn’t matter if i play an mpeg, divx or xvid movie with whatever audio encoded with it. Everytime i load ANY movie WMP looks for an audio codec but can’t find it. When i play it with BSPlayer it just plays without sound.

Also, i tried playing with the old WMP, after a lot of trying it finally downloads a codec, the MPEG Layer 3 codec, and asks if i want to install. If i select yes, it’s still no good.

And the stupidest thing is: i have all the codecs installed. The MPEG-Layer3 codec is installed, but still WMP wants to download it. Why would it want to do that?? Something in the registry going wrong?

When i open the files in g-spot it says all codecs are installed, but when i render, only the video renders and it stops at audio giving this error message:

0x00040242: VFW_S_PARTIAL_RENDER - Some of the streams in this movie are in an unsupported format

I included a list of audio codecs from G-spot:

I could not play .wmv or .avi files no matter how many codecs I had... downloading quartz.dll and replacing the existing file in \system helped. I don’t know why, though.

I have a little diff prob but I hope someone can hel[ me out real quick. I got a new set of speakers and they worked fine with the s/pdif output, BUT something changed and now the s.pdif output is comepletely gone. In the options section of WMplayer under the devices tab I can’t check the speaker property that would allow for player content to be played over s/pdif output. ALso, in the DVD tab of the options menu when I click on advanced it take me to MPEG layer 3 audio codec (Fraunhofer coded) that has few options. I used to have much more capable audio functions in the advanced section that would allow for s/pdif output. In Zoom Player it looks like the nero codec is what I am looking for, but all of the options are grayed out. Don’t know if that little piece of info helps, but I hope someone knows what I am trying to explain. Thanks

huh
if you haven’t already, uninstall any shareware (adware) software (audio/video and codec wise) as it sometimes replaces or alters your original .dll’s and further more, sometimes comes with adware ...

i’ve had very similar problems before, trust me...
divx-digest.com and moviecodec.com are probably the best.

BTW DivX.com (and lovely divx player) im not sure if this is the case if you purchase it, but if you download the trial version, or the codec for AVI usage, you WILL, in fact, get adware on your computer..and personally, i’ve had problems with registered divx player, it’s nothing fabulous...stick with WMP and the right codec !

When I tried to play the Initial D anime on windows media player it said that there was an error downloading the codec, then it will just start playing but with no picture, only sound. So I went to the site http://download.divxmovies.com/divx_audio_402.zip but when it downloaded it said the compressed (zipped) folder is invalid or corrupted, help me!
