Regular Rep: 0 Joined: 14 Nov 2003 Posts: 615 OFFLINE | Not really. Your outputted file is deliberately 2 or 3 or 4 CD’s in size because it is SVCD MPEG-2 compliant.
If you mess with bitrate you cause it to become Non-Standard SVCD MPEG2, and these don’t always play correctly on standalone DVD Players etc. Lowering bitrate would also lower the quality of the picture.
I suggest using KSVCD if you want to create a good quality non-standard SVCD as you can change the bitrate without impacting the picture quality as much as if you were to tamper with a regular SVCD template. BTW, these only work correctly with TMPGEnc - one of the top S/VCD Encoders. Up there with Cinema Craft Encoder:
