I hope someone can help me figure out a solution as I’m at wits end! I took Hi-8 video at my son’s wedding & send it to a post-prod. house to have it converted to a DVD so I could put load it to my Windows-based PC and hack & slash for incorporation in an ArcSoft ShowBiz2 DVD I’m making. After loading the files to my PC, I used Auto GK to convert the VOB files to AVI. The resulting AVI files look great in MediaPlayer but there’s no sound and message during file load indicates “Error downloading codec”. In ShowBiz, the video still looks great, but the only audio I get is a nasty repetitive tone, though no error message comes up. Did I miss something? Everything I saw before attempting the VOB to AVI conversion indicated that I needed to download AutoGK and DVD Decrypter but I didn’t use DVD Decrypter during the conversion (unless AutoGK used it and I didn’t notice). As you can probably tell, this is all pretty new to me, but I really want to make a decent DVD, so I’ll swallow my pride & take whatever help I can get.
