AMV help - .avi and .wmv conversion to .mpeg?

I’m hoping to make an AMV by overlaying some KHII clips with U2’s Vertigo, but it turns out one of the two clips is an .avi and the other is a .wmv. I need a program that will allow me to overlay the music (I have Jasc Animation Shop, that’s it, at the moment), and something that will allow me to convert at least one of the file types into the other. Any suggestions?
