S.M.Wright Guest | Is 3GP and mp3 the only formats the i joy recognizes and is the 3GP Converter the only converter that successfully converts video files?Has any one tried 3GPP, 3GPP2 and MP4?

Sean Guest | Actually, the only video files that are compatible with the i-Joy are those of the .ASF extension. Although 3GP is a valid video format, it is not compatible with the i-Joy. As far as other programs, not too many convert to .ASF and actually create files that will work with the i-Joy.

Daniel Guest | Hey Sean,
Thanks alot for that GP3 thing it makes this thing an even better value. The only issue with it is the very rough audio. It is really very smart how you figured out how to get videos on it and if there was a way to get the audio on it normal, I’m thinking you could sell it to the company that makes I joy, since it would allow them to compete with a video ipod as well.

Daniel Guest | I just purchased a Nokia 7210 battery (which is the same battery that comes in the I joy), and fully charged it but after only a few minutes of music play, it already has the low battery symbol flashing. The battery that came with it has the same problem. Has anybody else experienced this and does anybody know what can be done about this?
Thanks.

S M Wright Guest | Are there any file size limits and/or file type restriction for the 3GP converter? I have been successfully able to converter and play back music videos, however when converted and played back an hour TV show the video was severely distorted. What could be the cause of the distorted video? I used the 3gp converter and a high speed 1gb SD card.

Sean Guest | Did you record the TV show yourself? It might have something to do with the frame rate of the original file. Just out of curiousity, what was the extension of the original file?
I usually rip my own DVD movies chapter by chapter, so I can’t say as I’ve ever tried converting a file that was any longer than somewhere around 10 minutes.

S M Wright Guest | No, I didn’t record the show myself and it was in mpeg-4 format.

Sean Guest | And the frame rate?

S M Wright Guest | How do I find out the frame rate?

Sean Guest | Play the file using the 'mplayer2' application which can be found in the 'Windows Media Player' folder which is in the 'Program Files' folder of your hard drive. While the video is playing, click the 'View' button and select 'Statistics.'

Nirmal Guest | Hi,
The 3GP file link is dead.
Could someone please re-upload the 3GP file on megaupload or yousendit?
Also if possible please email the file to my email: nirmal1978@indiatimes.com
One more thing, is there any firmware available for i-Joy? with features like using iJoy as a webcam and mp3 info display in MP3 playback mode and maybe also to support directory mode in MP3 playback.
(It is very annoying to put all the mp3 files in a single folder on a 1GB SD card!)
Thanks & Regards
Nirmal

Sean Guest | To my knowledge, there is no new firmware available for the i-Joy. I agree with you though, the lack of ID3 tag support can be frustrating at times...especially when you’ve got over 100 songs under one directory. I search around all the time and, believe me, I will let you all know as soon as I find anything.
I am uploading right now as I type this. I’ll get the URL posted in a couple minutes.

Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 05 Apr 2006 Posts: 7 OFFLINE | Just a quick update: I contacted Concord about the possibility of ID3 tag support in a firmware upgrade. I also decided to throw in a suggestion for video games of some kind (solitaire, checkers, battleship, etc.). They replied back to me, saying that they would need to know the size of my SD card before being able to give me an answer about the ID3 tagging. Their reply must mean that there is some kind of solution, but it obviously relies on the capacity of the SD card. And about the video games, they said that as of now it just isn’t possible. They did, however, say that it was a “valid design suggestion," so that must mean that there is a chance.
Heck, I would love to see the firmware that’s on the i-Joy as of now and try to mod it myself, but I have no idea how to access it.
I’ll keep you updated.

Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 05 Apr 2006 Posts: 7 OFFLINE | kfowler26, where did you purchase your i-Joy? In most cases, you should be able to return it to the seller for repair/replacement within one year of the original purchase date.
If you don’t mind my asking, why do you need it to be serviced?

kfowler26 Guest | We bought it for Christmas at Overstock.com. When we tried to use a replacement battery, it appeared to be charging fine. Now it won’t even turn on though, with the new battery or the fully charged old one. Somehow the box and info. got lost in the after Christmas clean up so we don’t know who to contact.

S M Wright Guest | Hey Sean, I was able to convert a TV show and even a movies, and the play back was just fine. I think that one file was incompatible with the converter. The bit rate info. was unavailable for the previous file I had trouble with.
