The battery in the I-Joy is also used in Nokia cell phones. Search using “NOKIA 7210 battery” and you will find it.
The batteries can be found online cheaply (less than $10.00 a piece) and I suggest two of them. I also picked up a charging unit for the batteries off of eBay for the Nokia 7210 battery (NOKIA OEM BATTERY CHARGER DDC-1 KIT 6610 3390 7210 6800, sold by eBay user id: network482) and it works great. I originally purchased two charges from East Maze as well as the batteries, but now every single item I purchased from them has either broken or is not working, so I don’t recommend them at all.

Lekhika Guest | My question is regarding I-joy’s limitation in organizng and displaying mp3 song infos. Does anyone have any idea on resolving this.
I have come across this site which claims to have a software that can be used for portable devices without operating system. This product is called Rockbox and is supposed to support Archos, ipod and iriver products... Do you think i-joy users can benefit from it?? Here is the link to the site:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockbox#Archos
Hope to hear from someone soon...

Sean Guest | To how_can_i_do_this, what do you mean it didn’t work? What did you do? What wouldn’t work?
To fluteangel66, after copying the files, turn on your i-Joy and hit the mode button. Select the blue box labeled 'MP3' and hit enter. Push enter again to play the file. Up and down work as the volume control, and left and right to skip tracks.
Are you both using the right file types? There are a bunch of digital audio formats besides MP3 such as WMA, OGG, and WAV. The i-Joy ONLY plays the MP3 format!
Lekhika, using Rockbox would cause more harm than good. Because the i-Joy is more than just a digital audio player, the firmware needs to support the digital camera features. Go ahead and try it out, just be ready to cry after you realize that your i-Joy doesn’t work the way it used to. Your best bet would be to contact the developers over at Rockbox and ask them to check out the i-Joy, and if it would be possible to make a version for it. Until then, pretend like you’re back in the mid-90’s, using a portable CD player, and you have no clue what the title of track 6 is from your Backstreet Boys CD.

Sean, would be great if you can post more info about that, i bought the i-joy yesterday and i’m a bit disapointed about the sound quality when i play videos on it.
And, please let me know if you know how to convert videos to i-joy playable files but in 640 x 480 resolution. (to watch them in the T.V)
Anyone has tested the I-pod original earphones on the I-joy ?... i read that it make a big sound quality diference.

Sean Guest | The earbuds that come packaged with i-Pods have 18-mm drivers. I don’t know for sure what the i-Joy earbuds have in terms of specifications, but compared to the various other pairs I own, they sound great. I actually went out and bought a pair of Koss earbuds, but surprisingly, they don’t sound as good as the ones that came with my i-Joy. Keep in mind too, that sound quality depends heavily upon the bitrate of your MP3’s. I rip all my CD’s in at 192kbps. Experiment on your own; try different bitrates and earbuds.
I was finished with the new 3GP setting sometime Friday night, but I was away for the rest of the weekend and I didn’t get a chance to upload it and post the URL here. But I’m here now so — here it is.
Download 3GP with the new setting included here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MNCN63HS
Right-click on the folder after downloading it, and select 'Extract All.' When it’s done unzipping, open the new '3GP Converter Version 3.1' folder and double-click on the 'Setup' application. In the upper window, click on 'General: i-Joy MobiDV H12.' Now down at the bottom, click the 'Apply' button. A new window will pop up with a big white space. It says 'Drag and Drop here' right above it. Before converting, choose which video size you want. If you don’t know, then go for the first option, QVGA 320x240. Also, hit the 'Select' button to decide where the converted video should be placed. If you just ignore it, the video file will pop up on your desktop. No big deal. Next, locate the video file you want to convert, and drag and drop it into that big white space. The conversion should start instantly. I changed the output filename to 'RENAMEthisFILE' so it would be easier to remember to rename it. When the video file is finished being converted, rename the new video file 'FILE0001,' where the number '1' represents how many videos you have on the same card. Finally, copy your video file to the i-Joy’s '100AXH10' folder the same way you would anything else.
That’s all there is to it; hopefully I made this easy enough to understand for all of you. If you have questions or run into a problem somewhere, post!

Any1 know how to take close-up pics?
because it hasn’t macro option, so all my close up pics looks burry.
Thanks
Ps: I-joy can work as Webcam ?

Sean Guest | Adrian_M3, I take it you already downloaded 3GP, right? I can just email the new setting to you instead of uploading it somewhere if you’d like. It’s only a 2 KB file, so it won’t take more than a second for you to receive it.
The i-Joy doesn’t do too well in terms of close-ups. There is a zoom function, but as with most digital zooms, the picture becomes distorted after about 2x. If you wish to use the zoom, push the up arrow button while in DV or DSC mode and the down arrow to come back.
It can be a webcam, yes...although I have no idea how that’s even possible. Since Windows recognizes it as a removable drive, not an imaging device, I’m not really sure what to do. I’m sure there’s webcam software around somewhere that would do the trick, but I haven’t really looked into it so I really have no clue.
Anyways, get back to me if you would like that file emailed to you. If not, are there any free file-hosting sites that you know of that have worked for you in the past that I could upload to?

Hopefully it works for all of you.
Daniel, the i-Joy will accept 1 GB SD cards. There is no actual documentation anywhere stating what/if there are any SD card size limits, but judging from my own experience and what other people have said about using them, I would say it’s safe to assume that the i-Joy accepts 1 GB SD cards with no problem.
It takes about 2 hours to fully charge the battery.

Sean Guest | I sure could email it to you, but I’ll need your address. If you aren’t comfortable posting your own address on the forum, then you can email me first at shggybr@localnet.com so I can send you the file. Just to be clear, you already have 3GP Converter version 3.1, so you’ll only be needing the new setting, right? As I said in an earlier post, the setting itself is only 2 KB so it will only take a second for you to receive it.
My largest SD card is 1 GB. It would be interesting to find out if anything larger (such as a 2 or 4 GB card) would work with the i-Joy.
