need help on XVID codec

I have been searching for a week now and have d/l these follwing codecs and no luck so far:

AVIcod11
Divx311alpha
klcodec220b
klcodec220f
nimo50build9beta1
Xvid-1.0-RC2-07022004
Xvid-04102002-1
Xvid-Dec-160703
3ivx_d4_45_win

this is the only format I know of that I have a problem with...I recently (within the last 2 weeks) formatted mt HDD and I never had this problem before now...any help is greatly appreciated...

mika’s post in that thread is the best advice, minus the “newest 5.xx codec”.

“i think this is all you need: FFDShow, AC3Filter and [don’t need this — >]newest DivX 5.xx codec[

Indeed. You only need FFDShow, AC3Filter, as you will find FFDShow decodes XviD, DivX by itself!

If all else fails, you can try VideoLAN (www.videolan.org).

I guess the afterdawn.com’s standards have lowered because Praetor is a moderator and he’s recommending installing Nimo. Nimo is never needed to be installed.

Thanks to whoever sussed this!

This is definately the best option for a computer illiterate like myself

I have been trying to play numerous films in different players for weeks to no avail

I was a bit dubious downloading all these codes suggested as I when I normally do anything like that I cause total chaos and as it is the works computer the boss is none to pleased.

So I downloaded the AC3 filter and FFDshow and I could hear.
